Courtney Wolford

Being born on Guam and living there for half of my life, moving to Texas created a strong desire to reconnect to island home and build a “home away from home”. Serving as both a board member and maestra for Ininan Mariånas has allowed me to do that while also deepening my knowledge of our traditions and the stories behind them. My role has strengthened my leadership, patience, and confidence and had given me a stronger connection to my identity. I continue to commit to Ininan Mariånas because it allows me to share our culture with younger generations and create a space of pride and belonging. More than just dancing and singing, this work is about keeping our heritage alive, fostering community, and continuing to grow alongside others.
